The Clients Requirements
This beautiful grade 2 listed building, situated in Princetown, Devon, was suffering from various types of algae growth to all elevations due to the amount of rainfall and adverse weather conditions being so high up on the moorland area
When the Dartmoor National Park contacted us, they previously had the building pressure washed, thinking that this was the most effective way to remove the unsightly matter from the facades. Due to the high pressure of the water, water was entering the building through the walls and causing a damp problem inside as well as damaging the painted surfaces of the exterior.
The Solution
After an initial consultation and evaluation of the building, we decided that we would use our specialist low-pressure, soft wash system to gently remove the discolouration from all surfaces, including delicate cast areas.
This approach would not damage the surface of the painted render and would stop the problem of water ingress into the building by the high-pressure machines.
We carried out the restoration of this building from ground level and completed the job successfully with minimal disruption to the visitor’s centre.
We have used Prestige Professional Cleaning Services for the past three years to clean the exterior walls of our offices and visitor centre in the centre of Princetown, Dartmoor. The village of Princetown is one of the highest in the UK and has very high rainfall, which means over the course of the year the walls get covered with algae.
Prestige use a softwash system to clean the building, which is very effective, and not at all damaging unlike pressure washing which had previously been used.
We have been very happy with the service provided by Scott and the team and would be happy to recommend them to anyone requiring a similar service.
